Porro prism - this design has been proving its functionality for more than 100 years. Fully Coated - all surfaces of the lenses in contact with the air are covered for an even clearer view. Because glass surfaces reflect back up to 4% of any light that passes through them, binoculars made without an anti-reflective coating on the lens surface make the image of poor quality and dimmed. Most of the higher quality binoculars are treated with all or most of the surfaces of the lenses with a vacuum - layers of magnesium fluoride and other exotic elements are placed to reduce light loss from reflection - which increases the transmission of light and achieves a brighter and a clear image.
